A New Chapter for Queensland Property Sales

From 1 August 2025, a significant change has come into effect across Queensland's real estate landscape. Under the newly introduced Property Law Act 2023 (QLD), all sellers are now legally required to provide a completed Seller’s Disclosure Statement before listing their property for sale.

This reform represents a major shift in how property transactions are handled, aiming to improve transparency, reduce contract delays, and ensure buyers have all the essential information upfront.

So, what does this mean if you're planning to sell?

Before listing your property, you’ll need to prepare and provide a set of key documents, including:
✔️ A current title search and plan of the land
✔️ Any relevant building approvals
✔️ Body corporate certificates (if applicable)
✔️ A completed Disclosure Statement

This change is designed to benefit all parties involved:
✅ It empowers buyers to make informed decisions
✅ It helps prevent unnecessary delays or legal disputes
✅ It enhances confidence and clarity in every transaction

To support this transition, REIQ and the Queensland Law Society (QLS) have released an updated Form 6 and a new suite of sale contracts tailored to meet the requirements of the new legislation. These updates simplify and modernise the process for both residential and commercial property sales.

At NGU Real Estate, we’ve been proactively preparing for these reforms. Our agents have received updated training, and our systems have been upgraded to ensure a seamless, compliant experience for our clients. We’re committed to staying ahead of the curve because when the market evolves, so do we.

Whether you're buying or selling, our goal remains the same: to deliver outstanding service, complete transparency, and results you can rely on.

This is more than just a legal update, it’s a step forward for the Queensland property market, and another reflection of NGU’s commitment to excellence.
